Georgie Porgy's Pre-school in Hornchurch was first opened in 2011 under the manager of Joanne Hunter.

Georgie's Porgy's is made up of a large open hall as you enter, followed by a smaller classroom at the back of the building and a garden area which runs down the side of our building.

We are a nappy changing setting and when both parents and keyperson feel it is time to throw away the nappies and onto potty/toilet training, we will help support both parents and child in following this through.

We offer Early Education and Childcare places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Your child could receive funding from 15 hours and up to 30 hours per week. To find out if you are eligible, please apply online below.

Uniform is available to purchase however it is not a requirement to be worn daily if you wish not to. Contact Joanne to purchase.

Uniform Prices:

T-shirt: £6
Green Hoodie: £10
Black zip up fleece: £10
Book bag: £8

Here at Georgie Porgy's Pre-School, we offer an 'open door' policy which allows you to confidentially speak to the manager or your child's keyperson at drop off/collection or via phonecall or arranged meetings regarding your child's stay with us and development.

During your child's stay with us, we will complete on-going assessments as part of your child's learning and development progress. This will be completed by one of our staff members who will become your child's keyperson once the settling in period is complete. They will observe and respond to each of your child's needs appropriately in order to help progress them towards their early learning goals.

At Georgie Porgy's Pre-School we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which allows us to identify and help your children progress throughout the 7 areas of learning. These 7 areas are:

- Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED)

- Communication & Language (CL)

- Physical Development (PD)

- Literacy (L)

- Mathematics (M)

- Understanding The World (UW)

- Expressive Arts & Design (EAD)

More on these areas are explained in our '2year & 3-4year olds room' section.

What happens at snack and lunch time?

Snack is provided by Georgie Porgy's Pre-School and will vary daily to help promote and encourage health eating. Before we sit our children down for their healthy snack or lunch, we do encourage them to independently wash and dry their own hands to allow them to build on their own self-care and to learn the importance of hand washing.

For children who are attending pre-school all day or who start from the afternoon sessions, will need to arrive with their own packed lunch box with the desired food your child will eat, as when it comes to lunch time we do not hold lunch items within the setting to offer children who do not like/want their own food items.

There will be no need for you to provide your child with a drink as we will offer them the option of having milk or water at snack and lunch time and they will also be available throughout the day if your child requires a drink.

How do you ensure pre-school to home learning continues?

Within the setting we have communication systems in place such as: home\setting books, parent meetings, daily conversations during drop off/collection, newsletters, wow board, settling in observations and reward bear in order to make sure we are in working partnership with parents to continue their learning and development outside of the setting.

During your child's stay with us, each keyperson will create a learning journey folder for each child following the Early Years Framework (EYFS) which will also include next steps/targets, creative work, observations and photos. This folder can be viewed by parents of that child at any time if they request too with their keyperson with the opportunity to discuss how parents can help their child continue their learning at home.

Georgie Porgy's is Ofsted registered:

EY428142

and has been rated as a "GOOD" pre-school

Georgie Porgy's have recently introduced a 'WOW Board' which is designed so our children can share those 'WOW' moments and achievements with us that have taken place outside of pre-school. This allows each keyperson to build a whole picture of their keychild to make a smoother transition between home and pre-school and it is a great way to develop the children's self-esteem.

We are also introducing the 'Georgie Porgy Reward Bear' to give all children the opportunity to really shine in anything special that deserves a reward. Taking the 'Georgie Porgy Bear' home for the weekend encourages children to continue to progress in their development, allows them to learn that we recognise when they have done something special and it gives the pre-school the chance to share that special reward with the parents too when the child takes home the bear.
